Overview of Role
As a Legal Entity Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial integrity of the Bank and its foreign subsidiaries. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls and adherence to local regulatory requirements. This position is also expected to act as a key deputy to the Head of Accounting, offering international exposure and growth opportunities in a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Financial Accounting & Control
- Own the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes for assigned legal entities, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements
- Analyse complex accounting topics and ensure compliance with applicable standards (IFRS, FINMA Accounting Ordinance, other local GAAPs)
- Prepare and review reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity
- Monitor intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- External and Internal Financial Reporting
- Manage the preparation of statutory financial statements for the Bank and its foreign subsidiaries in accordance with local accounting principles and regulations
- Provide financial insights and analysis related to legal entity performance and risks
- Coordinate with external auditors for statutory audits, managing the audit process and resolving any findings
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, local regulations and tax laws impacting legal entities
- Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Design and optimise end-to-end financial processes through innovative process engineering, fostering scalability, standardization and operational efficiency
- Work cross-functionally with various departments (e.g., Treasury, Tax, Operations) to ensure seamless financial operations and compliance
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members
Education and Qualifications
- Swiss Certified Public Accountant, ACCA or an equivalent professional qualification
Experience, Skills and Competencies Required
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in audit or accounting, ideally within banks or other financial services institutions
- Strong knowledge of relevant account standards, including IFRS and local GAAP
- Demonstrated expertise in process evaluation and optimization
- Analytical and conscientious approach to your work, being comfortable with data, processes and systems
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Familiarity with SAP, Avaloq is a plus
- Advanced Excel skills, experience with Power BI, VBA, Python is an advantage
- Fluency in English is required; German is a strong asset
