Future Cities Lab Global was established by ETH Zurich and Singapore's National Research Foundation (NRF). It operates under the auspices of the Singapore-ETH Centre. Academic partners include Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). FCL Global has hubs in Singapore and Zurich, led by a director and two co-directors.
The Research Associate Director is expected to assist the Director and the co-directors in administration, research coordination and capacity building within the research community and the two hubs. In relation to her counterpart in Singapore, this role coordinates research modules, organises research relevant events and exhibitions, builds linkages across Zurich and Singapore hubs, and advances the program mission as per the awarded program description. The role is related to supporting the "Engagement Platform" in FCL.

You will be responsible for research-related administration and coordination in the Zurich hub. You will be in charge of developing and maintaining the overall program, monitoring scientific progress across the program (Zurich hub) and suggesting possible corrective actions if required. S/he should discuss with module leaders regulatory compliance in line with FCL Global guidelines; support individual module related contractual needs and prepare reports on the progress and alignment of the FCL Global program to its objectives, KPIs and relevant requirements as outlined in the Letter of Award. You should be able to support the development of FCL Global as a broad-based and outward-looking research community (including interns, Masters, PhDs, Postdocs and PIs) around the program mission and values across both Singapore and Zurich hubs. S/he should conceptualise, develop and deliver initiatives in transformative research to support the program mission; maintain and develop innovative communication, dissemination and knowledge exchange capabilities across the FCL Global Zurich research community through the digital platform named "Engagement Platform"; and coordinate specialist working groups drawing on research community members to address critical issues or events (conference organisation, podcasts, workshops).
This position is based at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. The appointment is for a fixed-term period of 3 years with yearly contracts and the possibility of extension.

Your profile

We are looking for a highly motivated person committed to innovation and excellence in research. Networking skills and a high degree of self-organisation are essential for this position. You should have a PhD or equivalent academic degree; in regional design, civic design or urban design, research or business background. The ability to collaborate with individuals of various backgrounds, teamwork spirit, strong problem-solving skills, and a "can-do" attitude are clear advantages. Academic level fluency in English for writing and communication is a prerequisite. Basic knowledge of the German language is desirable but not required. Working experience at ETH Zurich and a profound understanding of ETH's organisational mindset are welcome assets.
