The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation and fundamentals of nature. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations. Therefore, about one quarter of our staff are post-docs, post-graduates or apprentices. Altogether, PSI employs 2300 people.
The PSI Laboratory of Particle Physics pursues fundamental research, addressing up to date questions in modern, accelerator-based particle physics. We build and operate complex experimental facilities in which experiment-specific semiconductor detectors and detector readout chips (ASICs) play an extremely important role.
Our Electronics for Measuring Systems group covers the whole chain of design and realization of high-end custom electronics. Our group for High Energy Physics is heavily involved with detector developments for the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC and future colliders. For our activities in the field of next generation semiconductor-based detector developments we are looking for a multidisciplinary
