As Portfolio Risk Officer, you will play a key part in safeguarding and enhancing the risk framework of a Swiss asset management company. Your mission will be to provide independent oversight, deliver actionable insights to senior stakeholders, and continuously improve risk governance, methodologies, and processes across a broad range of invesment funds. This is a hands-on position with both strategic and operational responsibilities, where you will combine technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and strong communication skills to influence decision-making and support sustainable growth.
Your responsibilities:
- Define and implement fund risk principles, monitor exposure levels, and ensure alignment with both internal policies and external regulation
- Produce high-quality reporting and analysis across market, credit, liquidity, operational and FX risk, including forward-looking stress tests and scenario reviews
- Provide expert assessments on the risk implications of new investment strategies, counterparties, or product launches
- Oversee the lifecycle of risk models, from governance and documentation to independent validation and regulatory inspection readiness
- Drive efficiency by automating recurring tasks and enhancing data processes with Python, SQL and advanced Excel tools
- Maintain oversight of the broader enterprise risk environment, including operational resilience and business continuity standards
- Supervise relationships with outsourced service providers and contribute to group-wide initiatives designed to harmonise processes
- Contribute to strategic change projects, cross-functional working groups, and ad hoc reviews when specialist risk input is required
Your profile:
- Academic background in finance, economics; professional certifications such as CFA or FRM are advantageous
- Several years of experience in fund risk, investment risk oversight, or asset management risk functions
- Strong technical expertise in risk measurement methodologies (factor modelling, VaR/ES, derivatives risk, liquidity stress testing)
- Practical exposure to widely used risk platforms; additional familiarity with market data tools is an asset
- Skilled in quantitative tools and data analysis, particularly with Python and SQL, alongside advanced Excel capability
- Confident communicator in both English and German; additional languages are an advantage
- A precise and pragmatic working style, able to balance regulatory expectations with commercial objectives, and to work collaboratively across teams
