The position requires the candidate to support the Arts teams across campuses, help students in the recording studios, as well as to run rehearsals and main events (all technical aspects, including video streaming). They will also need to help the Facilities Team when required.
Main Responsibilities
- The Sound & Light Technician (SLT) plays a key role in elevating the sound and audio output of the art departments to a professional standard, taking into account latest developments and requirements for social media platforms and streaming
- Oversight over Theater Technology and Arts support in general
- Responsible for the sound, lighting and video streaming during various events, across campuses
- Train other ISZL staff members and students so they can support for Theatre-related tasks
- Edit and update current inventory, including assessment of the general condition of devices, compatibility with existing operating systems and or equipment.
- Assist with the set up and stage preparation and technically manage performance/event spaces, supporting rehearsals and production meetings accordingly
- Support live-streaming for performances across artistic, academic schoolwork
- Provide technical and creative support to all users of ISZL’s theatre and performance space
- Assist staff and students with media productions and development (sound recording, filming, editing etc.,) to answer both internal and external needs of ISZL
- Liaise with relevant school departments (i.e. the Instrumental Music Team Leader, Director of Arts, Head of Departments, Music Academy Coordinator, but also with representatives of the Parents Association in preparation for and running of events)
- Organise the technical support for all events included in the school’s calendar
- In consultation with line manager, rent/purchase equipment, as needed
- Work within set budget
Custodial Responsibilities
- Work, as part of the site team, to ensure that safety standards, general cleanliness is maintained, and remain available when needed
- Assist with Summer cleaning, when required
- Assist with traffic management on Zug Campus depending on the team's needs
Technical Equipment
- Provide first-line maintenance for all relevant technical equipment
- Ensure safe storage, functionality and accessibility of technical equipment
- Maintain an inventory of all sound & light equipment and materials stored and used
- Liaise with IT/Website Manager for system support
- Develop and maintain a manual for using key equipment
Health and Safety in general
- Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations and ordinances at all times
- Regularly update and advise all users, including students, on the safe use of the theatre and event spaces and equipment
- Perform periodic maintenance, checks and controls, as instructed
Required and Preferred Qualifications
- Team player
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, German would be considered a strong plus
- Technician with an outstanding skill set regarding everything technology (Music, Theater, Live Streaming, technology, creative arts) eager to stay on top of technical developments in related fields (sound, light, digital audio and audio-visual equipment and its use, in relation to live-streaming recorded and playback techniques)
- Proficiency in using standard office suites for business such as Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, and excellent general IT skills
- Highly organised with successful experience in meeting deadlines and managing conflicting priorities
- Open-minded
- Able to safely lift heavy theatre equipment and other devices
