Your role
- Shape the agenda of applied health economics in research and teaching, with a focus on health care spending, financing, and efficiency.
- Acquire third-party funding with academic institutions (e.g. Swiss National Science Foundation, European Union) as well as from national health care stakeholders (e.g. Federal Office of Public Health, cantonal authorities, insurers, industry, provider associations).
- Teach at Bachelor's, Master's, and Executive Education levels (in German).
- Contribute to the strategic development of the institute by mentoring junior researchers and helping shape an engaging academic.
Your profile
- A PhD in economics
- Several years of practical experience beyond academia (e.g., in industry or consulting).
- Strong expertise in quantitative research methods.
- Broad research experience and interest in policy-relevant, applied research.
- A proven track record in acquiring third-party funding from academic research institutions and practice partners, with results published in academic journals.
- Excellent knowledge of the Swiss health care system and an established professional network in Switzerland.
- Teaching experience across different audiences and levels, with consistently high course evaluation results.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- German at teaching level and an excellent command of English (spoken and written).

The Winterthur Institute of Health Economics (WIG) is a leading center for applied health economic research and teaching in Switzerland. The interdisciplinary team covers the fields of health economics, health care management and health services research.
If the requirements are met, the title of Professor may be awarded through the Zürcher Fachhochschulrat (Council of the Universities of Applied Sciences of the Canton of Zurich).
