Job Description
As Head of Data Engineering in the Real Estate Data team, you will be at the forefront of building and scaling the data infrastructure that powers Switzerland’s top real estate platforms, including homegate.ch, immoscout24.ch and flatfox.ch.
This is a pivotal leadership role: you will guide a high-performing data engineering team while directly shaping the foundation on which data science, business intelligence, and data products are built. From platform resilience to cross-functional innovation, your impact will be felt across the organization.
You’ll be joining a collaborative, agile, and mission-driven company with presence across six countries (Switzerland, Serbia, Vietnam, France, Germany, and India). Together, we build performant systems, unlock business value through data, and stay ahead of SMG’s strategic roadmap.
Specifically, you will work on:
- Leading SMG’s Real Estate vertical’s data platform engineering team, empowering and coaching a high-caliber team of data engineers while developing the data platform through technical guidance and a strong delivery mindset
- Defining the long-term vision for our data infrastructure and translating it into a focused, actionable roadmap that ensures the team is aligned on the highest-impact priorities and consistently delivers business value
- Ensuring the data foundation is performant, scalable, and compliant with data protection and security standards
- Delivering performant, monitored, and SLO-driven pipelines using a modern data stack with clear data contracts, service tiering and operational excellence
- Building strong cross-functional relationships with engineering teams, product managers, data scientists, business and digital analysts to assess the data needs from production to consumption and guide the roadmap

Qualifications
What will you bring to the ride?
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field, with a strong track record of technical competence
- 1+ years of leadership or team management experience, ideally within a data engineering context
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, other related fields or equivalent practical experience
- Hands-on expertise in cloud-based data infrastructure, pipelines, data warehousing, and orchestration tools
- Experience with building modern data platforms, such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Azure Synapse
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex needs into scalable technical solutions
- Experience with developing machine learning platforms including ML models deployment and ML workflows management is a plus
