Back Office Generalist

Job description:

You will join an established team of a financial institution in Basel, Switzerland and will work in close collaboration with the different units of the Banking department. Responsibilities will include tasks pertaining to both the operations and controls functions of Back and Front Offices.

Requirements:
  • Processing, confirmation and matching of transactions.
  • Investigating and resolving processing exceptions for non-standard or special operations (money market, FX, Gold and derivative instruments).
  • Providing processing support to the Central Bank and FX desks
  • Investigating and resolving confirmation breaks and settlement failures together with the front office, custodians and customers.
  • Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of confirmations, settlements and payments.
  • Ensuring settlement instructions are kept up to date.
  • Monitoring cash settlement and performing cash reconciliations, investigating breaks, processing compensation requests.
  • Documenting processes and procedures as the need arises.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for internal customers with regards to certain activities.
Competences:

Must haves:

  • Knowledge of financial instruments (e.g. money market, FX, and derivative instruments etc. - knowledge in any of the listed would be helpful).
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Familiarity with SWIFT messaging formats required
  • Back or Middle Office experience in a financial institution (operational related to transaction processing).
  • General understanding of and interest in IT, new technologies.
