Research Associate (a) - Lower Extremities Research Group
Our Research Group Lower Extremities at the Department of Teaching, Research and Development is seeking highly qualified and statistically skilled Research Associate (PhD level) to join our interdisciplinary outcomes research team starting on October 1, 2025 or earlier. The role is fixed at 60% FTE, with the option of expanding to 80% or more through participation in soft-funded projects. The group's primary focus is outcomes research based on data collected in our in-house registries and clinical information systems.
This role requires a PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, biomedical engineering, or a related quantitative discipline, advanced proficiency in statistics, and a strong background in outcomes research. The ideal candidate will have experience analysing patient-reported outcomes (PROMs), clinician-reported outcomes (CROMs), imaging data as well as a commitment to data quality and automation in registry-based research.
- Contribute to automating and streamlining registry data collection and entry processes.
- Oversee the accurate, complete and high-quality entry of registry data.
- Support the planning, design and execution of clinical and outcomes research studies.
- Conduct high-quality statistical analyses using R.
- Collaborate closely with clinical teams, including orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapist, radiologists.
- Take a key role in scientific writing, including manuscript preparation and the dissemination of research findings
- Lead the preparation and submission of grant applications, ethics approvals, and all related project documentation
- Supervise and mentor junior research personnel and graduate students.
- PhD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Biomedical Engineering or a related field, preferably with Postdoctoral research experience.
- Previous experience in registry-based or clinical research
- Proven expertise in statistical analysis and advanced R and R Shiny programming skills. Knowledge in Python and SQL queries are an advantage
- Experience in designing and programming REDCap databases, and REDCap APIs, with a strong understanding of research data management tools and platforms
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance in data handling
- Experience of automating data processes or developing data pipelines
- Familiarity with GCP and regulatory standards
- Experience of supervising or mentoring junior staff or graduate students
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
