The Swiss Library Service Platform (SLSP) – headquartered in Zurich – is a service provider for libraries and collaborates with them tu run the national library platform swisscovery that gathers scientific information from 500 libraries in Switzerland and makes it easily accessible and simple to find.
At SLSP, you benefit from flexible working hours, at least five weeks of vacation per year, a centrally located workplace near Zurich main station, a co-working space in Lausanne, and the option to work from home office (remote work).
To strengthen our E-Resources team within Network Services / Group Access & Discovery Services, we are looking for an engaged person to join us as Data & Application Specialist, starting immediately or by agreement.
In this role, you work independently in clearly defined areas of responsibility and make a key contribution to the operation and further development of central services in the fields of electronic resources, usage statistics, automation and Discovery. Your responsibilities
- Operation and further development of SUSHI-based harvesting platforms
- Analysis and preparation of COUNTER data
Resolution of issues related to vendor-supplied data
- Design and maintenance of workflows, analysis templates, and structured datasets
- Configuration, optimization, and quality assurance of e-journals, databases, and e-books
- Evaluation, development, and implementation of (low-code) automations to support library workflows
- Testing of new features, collaboration with pilot libraries, implementation, and maintenance
- Improvement of the visibility and accessibility of Open Access and electronic resources
- Metadata optimization and enhancement of discoverability in swisscovery
- Use of and professional involvement in the further development of AI-based functionalities in Alma and connected systems
- Independent handling of requests in the Jira ticketing system as the first specialized point of contact for libraries, as well as second-level support in the area of Alma Letters (including XSLT)
- Participation in the further development of search and discovery environments
- Knowledge sharing and documentation, for example through training videos and specialized contributions on electronic resources, Alma, and Open Access
What you bring with you
- Education in library and information science or several years of professional experience in library IT, system configuration, application support, or electronic resource management
- Several years of professional experience in a library, ideally as a systems librarian
- Very good knowledge of COUNTER, SUSHI, KBART, Alma Letters (including XSLT), as well as experience with scripting/coding
- Very good command of English and at least B2 level (written and spoken) in one of Switzerland’s national languages
- Structured, independent, and service-oriented way of working with a strong sense of responsibility
- Communicative team-oriented personality with organizational skills
- Analytical, interconnected thinking and excellent time and self-management skills
