As the Regional Medical Affairs Director (m/f/d) for Vaccines, you will have both strategically and operationally responsibility for all our medical affairs activities in the constantly growing "Rest of World (ROW)" cluster that includes Denmark, Sweden, Finland, UK, Spain, Italy, Portugal, France and Benelux. You will lead a team of seven country medical representatives with five direct reports.
The position is a fully remote position within Germany or Switzerland (as we do not offer any cross-border contracts, you have to live and work in either of the two countries), and up to 25% of travel is to be expected as the team is spread out in different countries. The role reports to the Head of Global Medical Affairs.
The roleIn this role, you will be accountable for leading and advancing Medical Affairs activities across ROW, ensuring alignment with global strategies and business priorities. You will provide scientific and strategic leadership, high-quality insights, external engagement, and impactful collaboration across functions. The role requires strong governance, people leadership, and a focus on operational excellence to support informed decision-making and sustainable growth in the region.
Develop and execute regional and national medical plans, including KEE engagement and insights generation to inform strategy and ensure effective scientific communication
Lead and develop the ROW Medical Affairs team, including organization design, recruitment, performance management, and capability building
Drive external engagement with KEEs, investigator-initiated research, and data generation, including real-world evidence initiatives
Ensure compliant review and approval of medical and promotional materials, and alignment with governance and local regulations
Collaborate closely with Commercial and Global Medical to support strategy execution, partner support, and cross-functional projects
Oversee development and adaptation of medical materials, training of internal teams, and continuous process improvement across Medical Affairs in ROW
What you bringTo be successful in this role, you bring solid leadership experience and a strategically mindset to support our growth. You bring a strong scientific foundation combined with solid experience from Medical Affairs in an international setting. You are comfortable translating complex data into clear insights that support both strategic decision-making and external engagement. With a structured and collaborative approach, you navigate across functions, stakeholders, and markets while ensuring high standards of compliance and execution.
Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, or a related field, with strong scientific credibility
Proven experience in Medical Affairs, including strategy development and execution across multiple markets
Strong understanding of regulatory, compliance, and governance requirements within the pharmaceutical industry
Strong cross-cultural awareness and ability to navigate diverse cultural environments.
From a more practical point of view, you can travel as required for the role.
As we are a global organization, we expect you to hold full proficiency English.
