Functional Safety Engineer ASIC / Semiconductor (a)
100% | Start immediately or by agreement
Are you looking for a role where functional safety is not just documentation, but an integral part of safety-critical ASIC development? This position offers a technically demanding environment with strong cross-functional collaboration and direct impact on high-reliability semiconductor products.
For a technology-driven company, we are looking for an experienced Functional Safety Engineer with a strong background in ASIC design. In this role, you will support and lead safety-critical semiconductor development from concept through production, ensuring compliance with IEC 61508 and ISO 26262.
Your responsibilities
You will develop and manage safety concepts and translate them into technical safety requirements. Based on the relevant SIL level, you will define suitable safety measures such as redundancy, diagnostics, monitoring, fault detection, safe states and fault injection during verification.
You will perform independent risk analyses, including FMEDA, DFA and FMEA, and review architectures from a functional safety perspective. In addition, you will review verification approaches, prepare safety-related documentation including safety manuals, and train design engineers on functional safety topics.
As a key interface for functional safety, you will work closely with architecture, design, verification, validation and qualification teams. You will also interact with customers, external assessors and certification bodies, while contributing to process improvements and compliance with relevant safety standards.
Your profile
You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field. You bring at least five years of experience in ASIC development, ideally within industrial, automotive or other high-reliability environments.
You have direct experience with the functional safety lifecycle according to IEC 61508 and/or ISO 26262 and are familiar with FMEDA and hardware safety analyses. You understand hardware safety mechanisms such as diagnostics, redundancy, error detection, monitoring and safe states.
Experience with EDA tools and requirements management tools such as Polarion is an advantage. You are analytical, detail-oriented and comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams. Strong documentation skills, clear technical communication and confidence in dealing with customers and certification authorities are essential.
What you can expect
You will join a future-oriented high-tech environment where safety, quality and technical excellence matter. The company offers flexible working hours, an open and collaborative culture, and the opportunity to actively shape safety concepts, development processes and product compliance.
If you combine ASIC development experience with functional safety expertise and are looking for a role with real technical responsibility, I look forward to hearing from you.
