R&D Engineer (m/f/d), (80-100%)

In this role, you will report to the Head of Noise and Vibration and be part of our team based in Baden. You will execute validation, design, and research tests, investigate and resolve critical product issues, and optimize processes and test methodologies in the field of blade vibrations in compressor and turbine components of turbochargers.

Your responsibilities:

  • Conduct blade vibration tests using strain gauges or blade tip timing technologies on turbochargers and their components, both on test rigs and in the field, including data analysis and reporting.
  • Contribute to standards and processes for testing and measurement methods in the field of blade vibrations at Accelleron to ensure high quality and productivity.
  • Manage and coordinate development-specific projects in the area of blade vibration measurements.
  • Ensure appropriate testing and qualification methods for Accelleron turbocharger products in the field of blade vibrations.
  • Track scientific and technological advancements through networking and personal contacts with academia, industry, and government institutions, as well as participation in congresses, conferences, fairs, courses, and literature studies.
  • Provide technical consultation and support to colleagues, project teams, and line managers.

Your background:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Structural Mechanics, or comparable education, combined with profound experience in the field of experimental mechanics and blade vibrations.
  • Experience in R&D or R&D-related activities in an international business environment.
  • Experience in the following areas is considered a plus:
    • MATLAB for development and maintenance of inhouse software applications
    • Standard FE-solvers (preferred Abaqus CAE) and in CFD-Solvers (preferred Ansys)
    • Reduced Order Modelling
    • Sensor instrumentation
  • Sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office 365 environment
  • Open-mindedness towards collaboration in other technical fields, e.g. machine vibrations and testing support.
  • Ambition to expand your own expertise into the management of qualification methods and testing techniques, and deepen your knowledge in the areas of project management, turbomachinery, and the supplier market.
  • Conceptual and analytical thinking, results orientation, collaboration and networking skills, intercultural communication skills, and an open-minded personality with change leadership capabilities.
  • Agility in adapting to R&D-related planning changes.
  • Fluency in German and conversational English.
