Job description:

Location: Greater Zurich Area

Duration: 3-6 months (with potential for extension or permanent opportunity)

Start: Immediate / Short notice

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Interim Plant Controller to support a highly automated manufacturing site with approximately 200 employees. The facility specialises in the production of precision components and operates within an international matrix organisation.

This is a hands-on, operational role requiring on-site presence (3-4 days per week; no travel required). The successful candidate will take full ownership of plant controlling activities during a transitional period, ensuring continuity and stability across finance operations while supporting ongoing projects and the budget cycle.

The role offers exposure to a regional scope (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Bulgaria via a Shared Service Center) and the opportunity to work closely with the Finance Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the Plant Controlling function
  • Support the ongoing budgeting and forecasting cycle, including planning and execution
  • Provide operational performance analysis and actionable insights to support decision-making
  • Lead weekly and monthly performance reviews, including variance analysis and reporting
  • Act as the local point of contact for all controlling and accounting-related topics
  • Partner closely with production, operations, and commercial teams in a matrix environment
  • Drive Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) in collaboration with the Commercial Business Partner
  • Manage and support project controlling activities, particularly related to a new production setup and facility construction
  • Work closely with the Shared Service Center in Sofia to ensure smooth financial operations
  • Act as a trusted advisor and sparring partner to site leadership, providing well-founded recommendations

Profile

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in controlling within a manufacturing environment; experience in facility/plant controlling is preferred
  • Strong understanding of operational finance in a production setting
  • Proven experience working in matrix organisations
  • Hands-on, pragmatic approach with the ability to operate independently
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience with SAP is required; knowledge of any consolidation tool would be an advantage
  • Fluent in German & English
  • Ability to start immediately or at very short-notice
  • CH/EU national or valid CH working permit
