Senior Visual Merchandising Designer

Context & Mission :
The Senior Visual Merchandising Designer is a key creative responsible for bringing Maison L'Occitane en Provence to life across global retail, pop-ups, events, and omnichannel experiences.
Working within the Global Creative Omnichannel team, this role is responsible for the concepting and design of immersive consumer experiences across ephemeral and permanent VM, ensuring consistency, innovation, and strategic alignment across all physical touchpoints.
The position partners closely with HQ cross functional teams, global regions and markets, as well as external creative agencies and suppliers, to deliver world-class brand execution.
You will be based in Plan-les-Ouates and report to the Head of Brand Creative Omnichannel.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Omnichannel Creative & Experience Strategy
- Develop global creative VM concepts for retail, events, pop-ups, and experiential activations with a strong focus on consumer journey and brand storytelling.
- Define integrated experience frameworks that combine physical, digital, and sensorial touchpoints.
- Translate brand and product strategy into cohesive, impactful retail experiences.
2. Visual Merchandising & Retail Design
- Lead the design of permanent and seasonal VM (permanent VM systems, display fixtures, windows, in-store animation).
- Produce 2D/3D design assets including concept sketches, renderings, technical drawings, and material specifications.
- Ensure designs are globally consistent while supporting regional customization where necessary.
3. Pop-Ups, Events & Experiential Activations
- Concept and design immersive pop-ups, brand events, press/PR activations, masterclasses, and retail experiences.
- Map customer flow, engagement moments, content zones, and experiential storytelling.
- Work cross-functionally with Events, Retail, and Marketing to ensure concept alignment and execution quality.
4. Creative Briefing & External Collaboration
- Create clear, strategic creative briefs for external design agencies, and fabrication partners (purchasing teams, suppliers).
- Manage external partners throughout concept development, design refinement, and production.
- Evaluate creative proposals from agencies and vendors, ensuring alignment with brand standards, experience goals, and budget parameters.
5. Regional & Market Collaboration (Global)
- Act as a key creative partner to regional and local VM teams worldwide.
- Provide ongoing support during adaptation and rollout, ensuring accurate and premium execution across all markets.
6. Production, Technical Development & Rollout
- Collaborate with procurement, and external fabricators to validate feasibility, materials, sustainability, costing, and production timelines.
- Oversee prototyping, mock-ups, and in-store testing to ensure quality and consumer impact.
- Deliver comprehensive global guidelines, technical packs, and implementation toolkits for regional deployment.
7. Innovation & Trend Leadership
- Monitor global trends in beauty retail, experiential design, materials, sustainability, and shopper engagement.
- Explore and integrate new technologies (AR, digital screens, RFID, interactive tools) to elevate the customer experience.
- Drive continuous improvement in design excellence and brand impact at retail.
How you can fit :
- 10+ years’ experience in visual merchandising, retail design, experience design, or experiential/activation design with luxury retail experience (preferred beauty, skincare)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating retail systems, pop-ups, events, and immersive brand experiences (your application must include a complete portfolio)
- Proficiency in 3D tools (SketchUp, Rhino, Cinema 4D, 3ds Max) and Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficiency in AI design tools (Midjourney)
- Fluent in English & French
- Experience managing external creative agencies, designers, and fabrication partners from briefing to final delivery.
- Proven track record working with global markets and managing multi-market rollouts
- Strong understanding of consumer behavior, omnichannel experience design, and brand storytelling
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced HQ environment, balancing multiple high-priority projects
- Knowledge of sustainability principles in materials and VM production
- Experience with high-end retail technology integrations and interactive experiences
