The Director Technology, Development & Innovation (m/f/d) is responsible for shaping and driving the company’s long‑term technology strategy and leading all innovation, development, and architectural initiatives across the Automation Division. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams (spanning software, hardware, systems, robotics, and automation) to ensure the delivery of high‑quality, future‑ready technological solutions aligned with business priorities.
- Define and execute the company’s technology, development, and innovation strategy in alignment with business priorities
- Lead and mentor cross‑functional engineering teams (software, hardware, systems), fostering strong collaboration and high‑quality delivery
- Oversee product and platform architecture, including AI/ML, digital twins, and workflow automation.
- Identify, evaluate, and drive adoption of emerging technologies; lead innovation initiatives and feasibility studies.
- Maintain and communicate a transparent technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with stakeholders across engineering, operations, and business functions
- Manage strategic technology partnerships and oversee key integration and collaboration projects.
- Support IP strategy, including patent processes, documentation, and protection of technical advancements
- Oversee R&D budgeting, resource allocation, and tracking of technology investments.
- Provide expert support on customer escalations, pre-sales technical consultations, and technical communications.
- Report progress, risks, technology milestones, and innovation outcomes to the CEO and the leadership team
Required Education & Professional Background
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Automation, or a related technical field.
- 6–8 years of relevant professional experience in technology development, automation, systems engineering, or multidisciplinary product development.
- 3–5 years of leadership experience, ideally in a high‑tech, R&D, or innovation‑driven environment.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Systems engineering & system architecture expertise (Expert level).
- Deep experience with multidisciplinary product development, including software, hardware, robotics, and complex automation systems (Expert).
- Strong knowledge of AI/ML, digital twins, and autonomous workflows (Advanced/Expert).
- Experience in innovation management and technology scouting (Advanced).
- Solid understanding of IP strategy, patent processes, and technical documentation (Advanced).
- Proficiency with project and portfolio management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and PLM systems (Advanced).
- English language (min. C1 level) and German (min. B2 level)
