Job Overview

We are looking for a Business Development Engineer to join our team and support the commercialization of NovaMea’s innovative AEM technologies and electrolyzer solutions. This role is essential for strengthening relationships with key clients and partners, identifying new business opportunities, and expanding NovaMea’s presence in the global green hydrogen and energy storage markets.

The position bridges technical development and commercial activities and requires a hands-on and entrepreneurial mindset. The successful candidate will manage the full business development cycle, from lead generation and customer acquisition to proposal preparation, contract follow-up, and coordination of delivery and logistics, ensuring that NovaMea’s solutions meet customer needs and market trends while supporting sales, marketing, and commercial operations.

Position Conditions

80–100%; permanent position.

Work Location

Saint-Sulpice (VD); on site with regular international business travel.

Start Date

June 1st, 2026, or as agreed. 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to promote NovaMea’s AEM technologies and electrolyzer solutions in domestic and international markets
  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities and strategic partnerships
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders
  • Manage the full commercial cycle from lead generation to contract closing and delivery coordination
  • Translate technical features of products into clear and compelling value propositions for customers
  • Support sales and marketing activities, including lead generation, customer follow-up, and preparation of marketing materials
  • Prepare quotations, commercial offers, and proposals, and follow up with clients
  • Coordinate internally to support order execution, shipping, and delivery of products and materials
  • Work closely with the R&D team to align product development with market needs and customer feedback
  • Represent NovaMea at industry events, trade fairs, conferences, and customer meetings worldwide
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments to guide business strategy

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ideally a PhD in electrochemistry related to water electrolysis or CO₂ reduction. Master-level candidates with strong technical expertise in electrochemical systems, renewable energy, or hydrogen technologies may also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of ion exchange membranes, electrochemical systems, or hydrogen technologies is desirable.
  • Previous experience in business development, sales, or technical commercial roles, preferably in energy, cleantech, or hydrogen sectors, is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently internationally and engage directly with clients and partners.
  • Ability to manage the full business development process independently, from opportunity identification to delivery coordination.
  • Strong client-oriented mindset with the ability to understand both technical and business needs.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and entrepreneurial approach to work.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a results-oriented approach.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
  • Authorization to work in Switzerland.
