As one of the premier suppliers to our international banking client in Basel, Swisslinx are looking for an Archive Cataloguer, ideally with an academic background or experience in archives management to assist the Bank with managing its archive.

Archive Assistant (80-100%)

Job description:

Working in a small and Archives Team of three this role includes regular archives management tasks (such as arrangement and disposal, clean-up of legacy records, request handling, etc.), for both physical and digital records. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Archivist.

The role is suitable for a junior candidate with an archives management degree or experience in a comparable role, interested in pursuing this profession and in gaining first-hand experience in an international environment.

Your responsibilities would include the following:

  • Reconditioning of vulnerable materials and physical arrangement in line with established policies and rules.
  • Preparation of physical files for digitization by an external partner; quality control of digitized files.
  • Help to maintain and regularly update digital repositories and search tools (incl. the Bank's digital archives catalogue).
  • Perform weeding and destruction of obsolete archives materials both physical and electronic - under the guidance of the Bank's Archives team.
About the customer:

As one of the premier suppliers to our international banking client in Basel, Swisslinx are looking for an Archive Cataloguer, ideally with an academic background or experience in archives management to assist the Bank with managing and digitalising the banks historical archives collection.

This is a 3 month contract starting ASAP on 80-100% basis to support an ongoing project.

Requirements:

In order to be considered for this role, you will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Archives management degree or previous relevant experience working in an archive (previous experience working in an archive could be taken into consideration in lieu of a professional qualification).
  • Preferably some practical experience in archives management in a digital environment (this can be via studies/internship or a first professional experience).
  • Knowledge of personal data protection frameworks and absolute discretion in treating confidential and restricted information.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel.
  • Interest/background in the history of economics nice to have.
  • Fluency in English (German or French advantageous)
