Our team Development & Optimization serves as the critical bridge between backoffice functions and real-time system operations, developing innovative machine learning and automation tools that directly support grid operators in their 24/7 mission. Additionally, we're responsible for the development and operation of the Swiss ancillary services platform, which plays an essential role in maintaining Switzerland's grid stability. 

Ensure that electricity flows in Switzerland

As a Security Specialist in our team, you will play a key role in both the development and operation of our machine learning solutions and the platform for ancillary services. You will work closely with the business users and data scientists to drive robust and secure product development. Your work will ensure our solutions not only perform at scale but also meet essential security and regulatory requirements throughout their lifecycle.

  • Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models and support the transformation of our ancillary service platform
  • Integrate DevSecOps principles within the ML development lifecycle and platform operations
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks related to data security, model integrity, and platform reliability
  • Define and implement preventive measures to protect against cybersecurity threats
  • Maintain thorough documentation and support knowledge sharing within the team
  • Participate in 24/7 second-level support for the ancillary services platform

We seek a communicative, team-oriented, and analytical individual who thrives in complex, agile environments. You quickly grasp new concepts and are highly motivated to explore emerging topics. Crucially, you possess a keen eye for detail, prioritize quality, and are passionate about doing things right. Additionally, you bring:

  • Master's or PhD in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) and DevSecOps practices
  • Solid foundation in software engineering, data engineering, and Machine Learning/MLOps with hands-on production deployment experience
  • Knowledge of security aspects specific to ML systems: data security, model integrity, and privacy-preserving techniques
  • Certification such as CISSP, CISM, or similar is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills in English, German is a plus

The business unit Market is Swissgrid's operational hub. The experienced specialists are responsible for transmission system operation and the markets for ancillary services. They also operate the congestion management at the Swiss borders and play an active role in shaping the development of the electricity market in Switzerland and Europe. At the heart of the Swiss electricity supply, in the Swissgrid control centre, various teams monitor and control the electricity flows in the grid around the clock.
Our Operational Decision Support team is responsible for the development and operation of applications for operational decision support, in close cooperation with the internal IT.
