Industrial (or Operations) & Supply Chain VP
In this role, the VP Industrial & Supply Chain officer will oversee and direct all TMHI industrial and services operations strategy to ensure productivity, quality, cost and delivery requirements are achieved in line with the company's strategic direction and growth objectives.
Responsible for all aspects of the company’s rolling stock maintenance and modernization industrial activities as well as supply chain from providing a long term vision to managing production quality continuous improvement processes and implementing best in class production and supply chain processes, technology and infrastructure.
The VP Industrial & Supply Chain will also focus on the people, systems and processes development necessary for delivering proactive, reliable and cost-efficient services to the business, ensuring high performance and customer focus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
As a key hands-on member of the management team, accountable for vision and responsible for: Make or Buy strategy, Capital expenditures (including payback assessment), coordination and execution of production and supply chain activities across the organization and with suppliers, leading to optimal customer service, including product/service quality, timely, delivery and cost.
Participates in the development and formulation of long and short term planning, policies, programs related to production, services and supply chain management.
Oversees the supply chain from purchase order to delivery.
Develops materials planning function for goods and materials and create integrated processes among internal operations and external suppliers to execute the Production /Services processes.
Collaborates with Sourcing, Engineering, product and services development teams to design products/services optimized for manufacturing efficiency to achieve quality and cost reduction targets.
Ensures quality management system procedures are implemented.
Plans, directs and implements logistics operations and administrative support to meet prescribed productivity, service and cost objectives.
Develops an annual operating budget and manage a systems of controls to ensure service levels and operational performance goals are met within prescribed cost, revenue and profit parameters.
Identifies competitive strategies and evaluates the organization's production and supply chain programs accordingly, ensuring thorough communication of imperatives and action to the teams in countries.
Responsible for operations and managing best practices with a strong emphasis on production /services efficiencies and asset utilization, ensures the development of systems and procedures for operating and managing physical facilities, human resources, equipment and systems in a profitable manner.
Ensures just in time inventory increases efficiency and reduces inventory costs.
Contributes to recruit, retains and develop outstanding teams on a global level. Coaches teams to drive high performance, client focused culture.
Assists in the execution of client care standards for all clients, communicating those to all personnel.
Maintains appropriate contacts with clients and ensures the team responds to all communication in a timely and professional manner.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, plus a minimum of 15 years senior-level experience within Manufacturing, Supply Chain and logistics operations.
Knowledge and experience
International experience in the transportation industry a plus. Railway industry/services highly desired
Strategic material and procurement experience with demonstrated success in achieving targeted cost reductions
Experience with transportation, inventory management and international logistics
Must have strong working knowledge of manufacturing /maintenance facilities, equipment, operations and management
Experience with developing and monitoring production strategies and performance metrics (Lean Manufacturing, 5S, etc.) in emerging countries a plus
Excellent organizational, leadership, motivational, analytical problem solving and strategic thinking skills
Ability to build cross-functional partnerships and engage in and lead cross-functional teams and initiatives
Strong change management skills and experience
