Senior Strategic Marketing Manager to direct all strategic and tactical marketing activities within the Tecan Laboratory Automation end-customer business.
The successful candidate will drive the Sales & Marketing strategic plan, bring marketing acumen to a technical Product Management & Application team and drive execution of marketing campaigns. In this role you'll lead all of Tecan's Strategic and Field Marketing activities related to our automation and consumables offering globally.
We are looking for a team player with broad experience in both strategic and tactical marketing, preferably in related industries. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with a "can do" attitude with the passion to build a new level of excellence in marketing for our organization. You need to be able to work with and educate team members on marketing best practice (i.e. as facilitator). You will be hands on, especially initially, to get the team up to speed. Good skill transfer capabilities coupled with decent team building and management skills are a key requirement. Furthermore, you need to be excellent at working across a matrix and across multiple geographies.
Responsibilities and core tasks:
Define and track the strategic marketing plan and be responsible for the yearly review process (global and regional)
Develop strategic, innovative marketing campaigns (e.g. objectives, focus, messaging) and activities in direct collaboration with Product Management, Applications Team, Regional Field Marketing and Marketing Operations Group
Measure and report progress on a campaign and product group level
Control marketing budgets centrally and regionally
Drive strategic pricing initiatives
Work on ad-hoc projects such as M&A integration projects
Coordinate the activities for major product launches
Lead our activities at global conferences and events with execution support from our marketing operations team
Drive Sales Meeting content creation and/or standardize local sales events
For this job the following qualifications are required:
A degree in Marketing and/or MBA with focus on marketing
Work in both Life science and/or Diagnostic industry and/or in a B2B marketing (combined experience of more than 5 years required)
Extensive experience in a world class marketing organization e.g. as Senior Marketing Manager
Broad marketing skills (e.g. strategic marketing, campaign planning, campaign execution, value-based pricing, product positioning, promotion, social media, etc.) - the role requires you to be strategic but also able to execute
Analytical skills to perform analysis of the market, competitors, product positioning, prices, etc.
Advanced project management skills with proven track record in leading functional teams and working in a matrixed organization
Proven experience to effectively interact with executives, senior leaders and customers
SAP and HubSpot knowledge
English is a must, German a plus, and any other language beneficial
Willingness to travel 20% of the time
Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skill, and at the same time a strong analytical approach combined with commercial acumen are a prerequisite.
