Postdoc Physical Chemistry of Soft Organic Assemblies (temporary position for 2 years)
Based at the interface of crystal engineering, pharmaceutical research and surface science, this project focuses on experimental prediction of drug product processability related with manufacturing of tablets.
Surface and mechanical properties of particles and powders will be analyzed on the nano-, meso- and micrometer scale to support technical development teams. The projects include following key aspects and tasks:
Characterization of pharmaceutical molecule crystals by Scanning Probe Microscopy and indentation testing
Characterization of pharmaceutical compounds and powders under compaction and manufacturing conditions
High-end optical microscopy and application of refractive/diffractive methods
Translation of result into appropriate development action
Cooperation with the particle engineers, pharmacists and engineers to impact particle and formulation design and processing

You hold a PhD in physics, chemistry, material- or nanoscience and have proven experience in Scanning Probe Microscopy, optical microscopy and crystallography. Additional requirements to perform in this role are:
Experience with structure-property relation of complexly structure material, bio-composites or soft bioorganic assemblies as well as experience with analytical methods such as XRPD, DSC, TGA, IR-spectroscopy
Good IT and fundamental programing skills (MatLab, LabView, etc..)
Ability to translate surface scientific aspects into processability and manufacturability of pharmaceutical products
Good knowledge English (oral and written); knowledge of German is an advantage
Ability to work in cross-functional teams together with employees of different background
