Senior Patent Attorney, Head of Technology IP
The position will be based at the headquarters in Basel, Switzerland and entails:
Overall responsibility for technology related patent activities out of Roche’s research, development and technical operation units, including drafting, filing, prosecution and enforcement of patent rights as well as handing of agreements, freedom to operate analysis, due diligences and conflicts. Technology encompasses all general tools used by Roche throughout research and development and commercial activities, i.e. technologies for drug discovery, pharmaceutical devices, formulation and delivery technologies as well as drug production
Counseling of Roche’s research, development, technical operation, business and legal units as well as Senior Management on all patent matters relating to technologies
Interacting with various stakeholders in an international setting, especially with regard to technology related patent activities at affiliated sites
Lateral management of peers in a global matrix setting
Advancing strategies regarding technology IP in close alignment with stakeholders.
Who you are

You have an advanced science degree, preferably in chemistry and/or biology and you are a qualified European patent attorney with at least 6 years of work experience in patent matters
You have experience in counseling on complex technology patent matters and ability in prosecution of complex technology patent portfolios, you have experience in IP agreements, due diligences and M&A for technologies
You have good knowledge of domestic and international laws, regulations, and processes relating to technology IP
You have the ability to explain complex IP issues to stakeholders from various professions, you have the ability to generate an IP strategy addressing the future needs of our company
You have the ability to laterally manage in a matrix setting and you have advanced negotiation skills
You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you have the ability to collaborate, as well as to work independently, balancing competing priorities in a fast-paced and complex global environment. You are fluent in English.
