Category Manager (1 year contract)

Your Duties
Providing direct support to the Head of Procurement: handling administrative tasks in the department; coordinating agency contacts; preparing meetings with external companies
Managing procurement processes: developing and leading sourcing strategies together with cross-functional teams across the organisation; negotiating purchase contracts ensuring best terms and conditions; analysing categories of spend to determine opportunities for cost optimisation; searching proactively for new markets and supplier sources; determining best-in-class processes in order to drive cost and service improvements; monitoring performance and service levels of suppliers
Monitoring category and supplier spending
Developing market intelligence and benchmarking while acting as subject matter expert in commodity and supplier market dynamics
Preparing and facilitating all sourcing solicitations in cooperation with senior tournaments and events leaders
Securing events/event marketing goods and services at the best price and highest quality
Working directly with business leaders to manage costs, reduce performance issues, and review vendor performance to ensure consistency with quality, service and delivery targets
Interfacing between various departments for the establishment and negotiation of outsourcing and technology contracts
Our Requirements
Completed commercial apprenticeship and further education in procurement or similar
A minimum of 5 years' experience in contract and vendor management, incl. procurement with Request For Proposals (RFPs)
Experience working with major global suppliers supporting events/event marketing (sporting events a plus)
Ability to conduct the basic operational procurement activities: procurement demand collection, bidding, tender analysis, negotiation, contract management and preparing procurement reports
Ability to analyse complex data and prepare consolidated managerial reports as needed
Solid track record in contract negotiation; strong communication and project management skills
Strong strategic thinking, financial and analytical skills; good business acumen
Fluency in German and English - other language skills will be considered a plus
Excellent knowledge of MS Office - knowledge in bidding software and ERP system an advantage
