US-funded, Silicon Valley drone startup is looking for an enthusiastic backend engineer to join its team in the Zurich area.
Sunflower Labs is building the next generation home security system combining an outdoor distributed sensor network with a flying security camera.
We are looking for a software engineer with excellent backend engineering skills who is motivated to work in a local drone startup. Responsibilities will include the development of an embedded server used to communicate with the drone, the sensors, the cloud and the front-end. You will work with other firmware engineers, electrical engineers, and front-end engineers to design a complete backend solution.
Co-architect the API for the server/hive-mind at the center of the system
Build robust software that implements the API and performs at scale
Optimize design and implementation for low latency and high availability
Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
Build reusable code and libraries for future use
Collaborate with designers, electrical engineers, and front-end engineers
Write software requirements, design descriptions, and test procedures
Run tests and evaluate results
Skills and Qualifications
Experience in server-side programming
Experience designing API-first services
Experience in scaling web-services, or experience in working on a web-service at scale
Deep knowledge of at least two programming languages: ideally, a lower-level and a higher-level one
Deep knowledge of the Linux operating system
Good understanding of authentication and security principles
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git
Experience with AWS/Google-Cloud is a plus
Good oral and written skills in English and German
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
Must be flexible and comfortable working in a multicultural environment
Must have experience in related engineering fields
