The position

Reporting to the Head of Group Procurement, as a Group Category Manager, the primary responsibility for this role is to acquire the ownership of assigned spend categories, ensuring the creation of Group strategies and processes. In particular, the selected person will ensure a full alignment with Group policies, processes, contracts, budget, action plans, reporting and other key activities. The role shall be able to establish a profitable stakeholder relationship to achieve assigned targets. Additionally, as applicable or requested by the line manager, the Group Category Manager will support the development of Procurement best practices.

Responsibilities

 

  • Ownership and management of defined portfolio of 3rd party indirect spend categories and Avaloq sourcing initiatives
  • Creation and implementation of category strategies in line with business targets and objectives
  • Creation of procurement policies and procedures for indirect spend categories
  • Driving of the shift within the business through effective partnering with stakeholders on all levels
  • Negotiation and deal closing with excellent results
  • Delivering of year on year cost savings and SRM activity to improve supplier performance
  • Supporting of the Procurement Team to deliver all other business objectives (eg: Innovation, process improvement, CSR, best practice sharing)
  • Conduct constant review and audit of local Procurement adherence to Group Procurement policies and guidelines
  • Supports the company vision and mission, and demonstrates the corporate core values in all professional activities
  • All other duties as requested by the line manager

Professional Experience & Skills

 

  • Previous experience in similar position for at least 5 years ideally within a greenfield environment and with Global/Local multicultural setup. Experience in the Professional Services and IT Procurement structure.
  • Proven track record of success of ‘buying’ in a strategic sourcing environment that demonstrates thorough knowledge of modern strategic sourcing processes and the use of appropriate tools and techniques
  • Excellent negotiation, problem solving, analytical and reporting skills together with personal relationship and influencing skills
  • Flexible and dynamic, conform to varying schedules, organize and prioritize multiple tasks, conflict management and facilitation attitude
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement and SRM skills with exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with positive and proactive approach. Team player and focus to details
  • Ability to work under pressure with shifting priorities, interacting and adjusting to different cultures and time-zones
  • Entrepreneurial skills in order to make correct independent decisions when appropriate, always in alignment with line manager
  • A good understanding of Contract Laws and standard forms of contracts
  • Knowledge of SAP MM Module and Microsoft packages (including SharePoint)

Education and other skills

 

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance and Economy or equivalent
  • Proficiency in English and German. Knowledge of any other European language is a plus
  • International certifications (ex. CIPS, PMI) will be considered as a plus
