Compliance Officer (Middle East experience)

Overview of Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Compliance Officer with experience in the Middle Eastern market to support our Compliance team in Zurich. The main mission is to ensure conformity of the bank's internal control system in respect of Compliance processes and activities and to work together with the Compliance team, the Management and Client Advisers by acting as a primary point of contact for Compliance in supporting the business and the R&Co Compliance programme.

Main responsibilities

  • Manage the Compliance matters by acting as the first point of contact for the business in the Anti-Money Laundering ('AML') / Financial Crime area
  • Perform due diligence in the context of entering into business relationships and preparation of cases / presentation to General Management/ local & divisional business acceptance committees for approval
  • Review of increased risk business relationships and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) & High-Risk client reviews as well as support of other client reviews
  • Develop and update internal AML related regulations, procedures and guidelines at the Bank and to ensure implementation of Group level requirements
  • Responsible for ensuring day to day adherence to regulatory requirements and responsible working on regulatory projects
  • Assist the Bank's departments (General Management, Front office, Middle Office and Risk) in respect of advising on Compliance related matters
  • Monitor and assist with implementation in support of both new legal / regulatory requirements and respective existing controls on a daily and periodic basis
  • Support to the Head AML with regard to all other AML matters (AML regulatory obligations and controls, supporting with Compliance related requests in connection with internal and external auditors, AML investigations and MROS reporting, interactions with authorities and AML transaction monitoring)
  • Supporting in the overall development of the Compliance programme of the Group entity
    • Keeping abreast of internal standards and industry regulations

Education and Qualifications

  • Swiss law degree is a plus
  • Compliance CAS is a plus
  • Proficient in English and French or German (written and spoken)

Experience, Skills and Competencies Required

  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar role, within a private Bank in Switzerland
  • Strong expertise in the Middle East market and good understanding of FINMA regulatory requirements
  • Highly motivated and high engagement, can do attitude, solution orientated
  • Strong attention to details and timeliness, rigor, discretion, team spirit and ability to manage a varied range of tasks
  • Excellent transversal communication skills and pro-active personality
  • Resilient attitude, high professionalism, high dedication and willingness to work as a team player
