Senior Legal Counsel
Your responsibilities
We have a new opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our team based in Zurich. The successful candidate will help provide legal support to our green energy businesses worldwide. Her/his responsibilities will include front-end legal support on complex and often ground-breaking international transactions, project execution and dispute management.
Key responsibilities of the Senior Legal Counsel will be:
- Collaborate closely with the company businesses' leadership in identifying, evaluating and mitigating legal risks, reviewing and approving transactions and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Structure, negotiate and draft international and domestic agreements with clients, partners and sponsors, financing institutions, contractors, suppliers and service providers in support of HZI's projects and products.
- Assist with the engagement of external counsel and dispute resolution management across various jurisdictions.
- Identify and provide solution-oriented counsel on a variety of day-to-day legal matters including internal processes and compliance.
- Drive best commercial legal practices across HZI's businesses.
- Deliver training on legal and contractual matters for HZI personnel.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of contract templates and precedents.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of relevant legal developments and relevant industries.
Your experiences
- Qualified common law lawyer (preferably admitted in England and Wales) with strong academics.
- 5+ years PQE* acquired at an international law firm and/or in-house legal departments of international project companies (* considered a guide - PQE range flexible subject to relevant experience).
- Demonstrable experience in:
- drafting, negotiating and structuring complex construction contracts and project document suites;
- project finance transactions;
- high-level interaction with public and private clients, development partners, financing institutions, contractors, suppliers and service providers.

- Willingness to assist with day-to-day legal matters.
- Ability to convince and obtain the agreement of others in a multicultural environment.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Fluency in English (German and French proficiency will be considered a plus).
- Ability to work autonomously but with the support of an experienced legal team.
- A problem solving, creative attitude.
- Ability to travel on short notice.
