Job Description

We are looking for a talented Java Software Engineer for the Wüest Dimensions Product Team to proactively shape and drive our future growth. You are going to be based in Lisbon (our team of 11 people at Centro Comercial Alvalade) and will be part of a highly motivated team which is partly located also in Zurich.

Our team of 30 specialist supports the full software lifecycle from conception, prototyping, development, and operations/support of running applications. Our lean project teams guarantee prompt decision-making, a rapid response to changing requirements, and flexible solutions to customer's needs. Our customers are from various industries including banking, insurance, new outlets, comparison platform, real-estate companies, and the public sector. We work in various small to mid-sized projects often including everything from web-frontend, a complex database and backend system with business logic as well as interfaces to third-party applications.

In this role you will mainly be responsible for:

  • Your time will be spent between requirement analysis/engineering and software development  
  • Design and develop high-quality software solution based on business requirements 
  • Discuss, understand, and refine business requirements together with business peers 
  • Share/spread knowledge within and across teams 
  • Technologies in use:
    • Java (11)/ Spring
    • Java Unit testing with Mockito & Junit
    • JavaScript
    • REST
Qualifications

Do you strive for excellence and take pride in delivering high-quality code, but you also recognize the importance of pragmatic and efficient solutions when necessary? And you bring the following:

  • University degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent; Relevant technical certifications are a plus
  • Proven experience in designing and operating containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, OpenShift, etc.)
  • Development lifecycle management, in particular Git / BitBucket and working with Pull Requests
  • Minimum 3-4 years of professional software development experience of which ideally working for min. 1y on a complex, long-running project
  • Webservice Programming and frontend development
  • Good familiarity with agile development methodologies, especially SCRUM / SAFE
  • Ability to well integrate and effectively work in a SCRUM team
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, team player with an agile mindset 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Fluency in English language, written and verbal
