Postdoc in Optical Engineering (60-100 %)

Ihre Aufgaben:

You will work on an innovative industrial project in an interdisciplinary team of lecturers, scientific staff, technicians and students in the fields of sensor technology, electrical engineering and optics. The goal of the project is to develop an optical technology for the non-contact measurement of coating thickness in the submicrometer range. Your activities include:

  • Development of a technology demonstrator, which will also be tested in industrial applications during the project
  • Characterization of the optical properties of coatings
  • Modeling of thermo-optical processes in thin film systems
  • Performing optical simulations for the optimization of the system

The position is limited to two years but can be extended to carry out follow-up projects. Depending on the progress of related activities in the field, it is possible to increase the level of employment from a minimum of 60 % to 100 %.

Ihr Profil:

You have a PhD degree in physics or electrical engineering, ideally with a focus in optics or photonics. You enjoy experimental work and bring practical skills, also in related fields. Your theoretical knowledge in optics and thermodynamics completes your profile. You work independently, in a structured and solution-oriented way. You are willing to take responsibility for your working area. In addition, you are eager to deal with new scientific problems and solve them with a high degree of team orientation. Experience in an industrial environment and good command of German language are an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
