Data Base Specialist / SW Engineer Management of Environmental Research Data

The successful applicant will be in charge of the information and data management of complex scientific data sets in various research projects and platforms in forest and biodiversity research. The position is dedicated to designing, implementing and maintaining complex data bases including the control and management of data access. Moreover, the position holder will be responsible for creating tools and applications for data visualization and analysis and will work together with scientists to optimize data base structures and processes. The position thus requires interest in scientific research questions and includes training and support of data users and research concerning IT technologies for environmental sciences.

We are seeking an individual with a completed university education in informatics with experience in environmental sciences or biology as well as in data base management, data visualization and analysis. Experience in R, Unix-Systems, Oracle PL/SQL & Forms, MS Access, and Javascript are advantageous. For the successful realization of the projects, flexibility, autonomy, communication skills, and teamwork are required.We offer an exciting interdisciplinary working environment within an international and dynamic team without classical hierarchies.
