Radio Engineer Trainee

In order to address the problematic of extended VHF AM radio coverage with 8.33 kHz BW frequencies over the Alps, Skyguide would like to implement a new solution where 2 separate radio transmitters are used simultaneously to transmit the air traffic controller voice to the aircraft. This new solution is called "Simulcast" and can be deployed on most of our existing Telerad radios.

Skyguide plans to make extensive tests before deploying this new technology operationally. To make it happen, the following tasks are planned for 2017:

1. Finalization of the description of the Simulcast technology
2. Deep analysis of all advantages and risks linked to this new technology
3. Exploration of the market to check if such a solution is already deployed in the world
4. Analysis of all international and national legal constraints we have to deal with
5. Detailed definition of a technical and operational test plan
6. Full testing in our laboratory and in our remote stations (including a test report)
7. Establishment of guidelines for the next steps (operational deployment)
