As a Design Engineer specializing in orthopaedic implants and instruments, you will play a crucial role in product development. You will be responsible for creating 3D models and detailed engineering drawings of orthopaedic implants and surgical instruments, ensuring precision and quality. Your work will directly impact our products' success and patients' well-being.
Your mission
- Conceptualization and Design: Collaborate with global cross-functional teams (CH and USA), including product managers and R&D, to conceptualize and design orthopaedic implants and instruments.
- 3D Modeling and prototyping: Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor) to create accurate and detailed 3D models of orthopaedic implants and instruments, considering ergonomic and functional requirements. Design iterations using rapid prototyping techniques.
- Engineering Drawings: Develop comprehensive engineering drawings that include GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) for manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Prototype Development: Work closely with the global R&D team to produce physical prototypes for testing and validation.
- Database and documentation management: Manage and optimize the drawings and models database, bringing older models to current standards. Maintain accurate records of design changes, revisions, and project progress.
- Design Optimization: Continuously assess and refine designs for performance, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with manufacturing suppliers to facilitate the smooth transition from design to production
- Problem Solving: Identify and address design challenges and issues that may arise during development.
Your skills and professional experience
- Finished education in CAD design and modelling (Konstrukteur EFZ) or further education HF Technician
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and experience with GD&T
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Deadline-driven and committed to quality.
- Good German and English skills
