Viasuisse is the national traffic information centre with headquarters in Biel. It was founded in 2001 and it now employs 27 people. The trilingual editorial office generates and disseminates traffic news for the whole of Switzerland in the relevant language. The editorial office works around the clock to ensure that information is even available through the night.
Information for the media
We supply radio stations (public and private), internet platforms, websites, navigation systems (RDS-TMC) as well as authorities with our traffic information. It is prepared and presented according to the relevant medium.
All cantonal police units in Switzerland are connected directly to Viasuisse's traffic information system. Road users inform us about traffic jams and other delays by calling one of the several hotlines operated by our partner radios. The calls are answered by our editorial staff. Another source, which gets more and more important, is GPS-generated data from FCD (Floating Car Data) systems. We double-check these informations by consulting camera images and data from sensor systems.
