The ZHAW is one of the largest multidisciplinary universities of applied sciences in Switzerland, with more than 11,500 students and 3,000 faculty and staff.
The School of Health Professions is the largest and most well-known centre for training and continuing education in various health professions, such as occupational therapy, midwifery, nursing and physiotherapy, as well as for research in these fields. We aim to promote links between teaching and research.
The Master of Science in Nursing provides graduates with a qualification in Advanced Practice Nursing (APN). The ZHAW offers two areas of specialisation: Acute critical care and Community-based care. The MSc degree programme is offered in collaboration with the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) and the FHS St. Gallen, University of Applied Sciences. A Master of Science in Midwifery is also planned for 2017 in close cooperation with our partner universities. All lecturers in the Master of Science Programme (MScN) are also part of the research team and develop their own research projects as project managers.
Due to retirement, the Institute of Nursing is seeking a
to start on 1 January 2017 or by agreement.
As a member of the Institute management, you will be responsible for the following:
* Heading and further developing the Master of Science programme in Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) in close collaboration with our partners, the BFH and the FHS St. Gallen (see above)
* Responsibility for staff and finances
* Teaching in the MSc in Nursing programme and research (50 % of the position), if possible in one of our existing research areas
* PR and marketing for the Master of Science programme
* Representing the Master of Science programme on national and international committees
For this demanding position, we require a university qualification (PhD) with a dissertation in nursing science, as well as basic nursing training. You are also required to have demonstrated knowledge and experience in university teaching, and experience in research. If possible, you have acquired third-party funds for research and development projects and you are familiar with the Swiss health and care systems. Furthermore, you need an excellent knowledge of both German and English, which you are happy to apply effectively, including in scientific publications. In your capacity as manager, you will promote your employees, think in an entrepreneurial manner and address challenges in research and teaching in a solution-oriented fashion. You are a good, convincing communicator and you have great commitment and intercultural competence.
