This role will suit candidates who relish the challenge of starting up a new greenfield operating facility, coming on board at the start of the detailed design phase of the project, working within the project execution and delivery team in an ownership and project delivery role.
Ideally, candidates with experience as a senior lead process, mechanical or project engineering role with significant relevant major capital project experience within the Life Sciences industry. This will include all project phases from design, procurement, construction and through to qualification and operational readiness. Significant experience with Life Sciences & Biotech process equipment including technical & commercial capability to lead equipment design and full equipment procurement lifecycle is required. This will also include coordinating the equipment review process with key stakeholders.
International experience on major capital projects design and equipment procurement, with substantial vendor management experience and knowledge of central Europe / DACH region and it`s vendors / module manufacturers / project partners is preferred, with a strong demonstrable track record of successful execution and delivery.
This position is on a 3 year contract basis with option to extend if mutually beneficial for both parties.
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Lead & coordinate the design, URS's, enquiry, bid analysis and technical procurement of Vendor Package equipment, including Upstream processing
Full vendor management ownership including technical, design, fabrication, commercial, progress, schedule, documentation, inspection, testing, construction support, commissioning, qualification support and delivery
Lead & coordinate the FAT protocol & execution attendance, SAT`s, installation, IQ, OQ and start-up of Vendor Package equipment
Key interface for all vendor equipment matters with the design leads and the Process/Product Development SME`s
Day to day design supervision & coordination of vendor equipment and modules
Lead, Review & Approve the equipment design, including A&E specifications and vendor submittals
Expertise in upstream equipment including fermentation reactor modules, harvest, centrifuges, filtration, inoculation, incubation and other typical vendor equipment utilized in an upstream bulk biotech facility
Works effectively within a large team environment while delivering on objectives, strong team player and coach / mentor transferring knowledge to operations & maintenance personnel
Degree in mechanical, process or chemical engineering, Dipl. Ing. or M.Sc. or B.Sc. or equivalent
Strong leadership experience gained within the design, procurement, construction & qualification environment of a recombinant Biotech Upstream/Downstream manufacturing facility
Several years of successful international process technology support and leadership experience on mid-sized and major projects with high complexity in the chemical, biotech-or pharmaceutical industry
Proven experience and knowledge in biotech, process and infra engineering
Languages: German and English fluent in writing and spoken preferred
